The Fiesta of Five Flags is an annual celebration of the founding of Pensacola, the first European settlement in the United States, in 1559 by Spanish Conquistador, Don Tristan DeLuna. Since that time, five different flags have flown over the City; the Spanish, French, British, Confederate and American. This Top 20 celebration is one of the oldest and largest festivals in Florida and will be held June 1 - 11, 2006.

Pensacola Crawfish Creole Fiesta celebrates the Cajun influence in the Northwest Florida Community. The event is one of the largest crawfish boils in state. This event features thousands of pounds of boiled crawfish in addition to other traditional Cajun and Creole fare such as red beans & rice, crawfish pie, boudin balls, and even fried gator tails.

This festival has been consistently recognized as a Top 20 Event in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society. As always, famous Gulf Coast SEAFOOD will be the highlight of the weekend. Food vendors offer a wide assortment of delicious seafood... both traditional and gourmet recipes. Choose between fried mullet or crabmeat puffs with Monterey sauce; crawfish etouffe or seafood pita. Pensacola JazzFest, now in its 23nd year, is a FREE all-jazz festival held in downtown, historic Seville Square. The event is administered by the Jazz Society of Pensacola with assistance from WUWF-FM and the Arts Council of Pensacola. The two-day festival, held in early spring each year, celebrates America's Unique Musical Art Form--Jazz.

From downtown Pensacola, it’s only a short drive to Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, home of the world-famous Blue Angels, a high-performance team of naval aviators who set the standard for precision flying. Also located on NAS Pensacola is the Naval Aviation Museum. There are more than 130 of the finest Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard aircraft on display. You can also experience the thrill of flight in the 15-passenger full-motion flight simulator. Or how about the museum’s IMAX Theater, featuring films on flight and other daring adventures on a seven-story-high screen?
FORT PICKENS The Fort was completed in 1834 and used until WWII, when modern weapons made traditional coastal defense obsolete. Fort Pickens has changed over the years, so take the self-guided tour and peel back the layers of history.

A Blue Angels flight demonstration team exhibits choreographed refinements of skills possessed by all naval aviators. It includes the graceful aerobatic maneuvers of the four-plane Diamond Formation, in concert with the fast-paced, high-performance maneuvers of its two Solo Pilots. Finally, the team illustrates the pinnacle of precision flying, performing maneuvers locked as a unit in the renowned, six-jet Delta Formation. The Blues fly over Pensacola twice a year, Fourth of July and November.

The Blackwater River is the ONLY pristine sand river left in the United States, so unique that the State of Florida purchased and designated it as a State Forest. Yes, we have Women’s Professional Football here in Pensacola. In fact, this team is the most successful professional sport team Pensacola has ever produced with a 52-5 record, including 5 straight playoff appearances. The women do not get paid to play but entertain the fan base. After 5 seasons undefeated at home, the Power, suffered its first defeat during the regular season in 2006.

Ice Hockey in Florida? Opening in 1996, the Pensacola Ice Pilots gave Pensacola a professional sport to cheer and support. It took some time to teach everyone what hockey was all about but record crowds cheered them on. The Ice Pilots have come a long way winning the Brabham Cup Championship in 2005.
